11″ Yarn Couple from Portugal. The dolls were a gift from Lino Restrepo and Gloria Mendoza. They purchased the couple from a street seller in Sintra, who said that he had made the pair by hand for sale.
According to the internet, Sintra is a municipality in the Lisbon Region and is known as the Portuguese Riviera. The city itself is set amidst the cooler pine-covered hills of Serra de Sintra. For this reason it attracted the nobility and elite of Portugal. Today this once royal town is an UNESCO world hertiage site.
