Destiny Gene-Destiny Gene Side-Destiny Gene Close-up15 1/2″ Vinyl 1998 “Destiny” Gene, Designed by Mark Esposito, winner of the Young American Designers Award. Each doll came with a story line.  Destiny’s story is as follows: “Last night fans of Gene Marshall flocked to attend a reception honoring her achievements both on-screen and for children’s charities. What a thrill to see the premiere of a newly discovered ‘lost reel’of Gene in a never produced 1954 film, ‘Destiny.’ The clip showed her to flirty perfection in a magnificant ball gown. Gene fans, be sure to catch next month’s issue of this magazine for incredible stills from this never-before-seen film!”

Gene is wearing the 2000 “Jazz Note” Outfit. The story provided for the outfit goes as follows:   ” Gene loves jazz and she is thrilled to read in the paper that Violet Waters was appearing in a small club in Beverly Hills so she arranged for a table of friends to visit the club. Gene walked into the smokey club in a steamy black dress. When Violet Waters sang, Gene and the crowd hung onto her every note. During the applause, Gene wrote Violet a note on the back of a napkin. ‘Pure jazz heaven. Will you be able to join us at our table between shows? I think there might be some studio people here who would like to meet you. Hugs Gene Marshall…'” The dress is circa 1943 and was designed for Gene by Dolly Cipolla.

I purchased the doll and outfit from Ashton Drake the years they were issused.
