( Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece and is located northeast of Crete, southeast of Athena and just off the Anatolian Coast of Turkey. Historically, Rhodes was famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The medieval Old Town in the city of Rhodes has been declared a World Hertiage Site, and interestingly, the state of Rhode Island name is based on these islands.)
