Donegal Woman and Donkey

Donegal Woman & Donkey-Donegal Woman & Donkey closeupDonegal Woman & Donkey Side-7″ Clay & Cloth Jay of Dublin’s Donegal Woman & Donkey. The doll came with the following information:” The women from Donegal wore gay coloured blouses, homespun skirt, white apron, and a long black shawl. Their men folk usually migrated to England or Scotland for the harvesting season and the women had to look after their household and any land they had.” The donkey is carrying peat for the heating and cooking in the home.  I purchased the doll in 2009.
