The Fisherman

jk-fishermanjk-fisherman-sidejk-fisherman-close-up12″ Resin The Fisherman from The Milestones Collection by Jacqueline Kent. The doll came with the following poem:

“I’m rising at the crack of dawn to try and catch a fish.

Too bad they didn’t sleep ’til noon, but I can only wish.

The tackle box is tough to find when it is barely light.

I’ll bring along a tub of worms, and hope to get a bite.

The day is cold and I’ve been told, the fish are sure to surface.

If that’s the case, with any luck. I’m taking home a surplus.

But wait. I see, my fishing line is tangled up in knots.

At least the boat is warm and dry without a single leak.

So why is water seeping in. It’s looking rather bleak.

By now the sun is shining high. I wonder should I stay.

Perhaps I’ll eat a steak tonight and fish another day.”

I purchased the doll in 2004 from the Doll Market.
