Georgetown Collections provided artist information on their Artist’s Edition Collection and the following is the information they provided on Ms. Skille:
” Born in the northern part of Norway, Sissel Skille began her love affair with dolls long before she could walk. In fact, “doll” was her first spoken word. But the serious pursuit of her art only began many years later.
Sissel happily divides her time now between two careers: teaching elementary school and creating her beloved dolls. Limited time means that she can only create a few very special dolls each year. Each is a one-of-a-kind creation, an individual –a friend.
Most of her dolls will never leave her. They become a part of her family. Luckily, a few make the long trip as messagers of joy for all of us to share.”
The information then goes on by quoting Ms. Skille:
“I find my inspiration in children that I meet each day. Not all of them are outwardly beautiful or handsome, but each of them has a spirit that makes them special in a very unique way. Their joyfulness lights up the world for those around them. I want my dolls to give joy to those who see them. And that’s why I created Kristin.”
