“Kristin just can’t wait for her first letter from her new penpal. Making new friends in faraway places is exciting. She dreams that someday she’ll meet them in person. But for now, she’ll wait for their letters, so full of life. Won’t you be her penpal, too?
The premiere issue in a wonderful new collection called “Faraway Friends,”TM Kristin was created by Sissel Skille, a remarkable European artist who has quickly become one of the brighest stars in today’s doll world. Inspired by a special child in own life, Sissel has captured in Kristin the excitement of a little girl making new penpal friends and learning about how other people live.
Kristin’s beautifully sculpted face shines with hope and anticipation, Her brown eyes sparkle, and mouth is so perfect that she seems about to speak. And of course, her silky blonde pageboy is finished with a blue satin bow.
Dressed for school in her favorite blouse and denim skirt, Kristin wears a warm wooly sweater knit in the traditional snowflake pattern.
And when Kristin arrives in your home, she’ll bring along the packet of letters she has received -so you can enjoy her penpal friends, too.
Until now, Sissel Skille’s dolls have only been available as one-of-a-kind creations. because they are so lifelike and so rare, her originals sell for thousands of dollars each. Kristin is the very first limited edition doll ever created by Sissel.
As a Georgetown Artist’s Edition, Kristin is not like other dolls. Here the artist is given the freedom she needs to make her dolls come alive, and complete control over their craftsmanship…”
The article then goes on to quote Kristin, who says:
“My name is Kristin and I live in Norway. My home is called the Land of the Midnight Sun, because in the summer, the sun doesn’t set until almost morning! Sometimes it’s hard to go to sleep when it’s still light out.
My family live in Trondheim, which is a seaport on the coast. I love to walk with my grandfather and watch the fishing boats come and go. He knows every boat and captain in town, and he tells me wonderful stories about his days on the sea…”
