Betty: 1930’s Bride

Betty Bride

19″ Porcelain Betty: 1930’s Bride by Phil Tumminio for Ashton Drake Galleries.   Betty came with the following information:” It was her mother’s gown in the 1900’s. Now Betty  wears it ever-so-proudly on her wedding day. Betty is the breathtaking new issue in Phil Tumminio’s From This Day Forward collection honoring the special bridal tradition of an heirlooom gown. In keeping with the style of the ’30s, this second-generation bride has chosen to reduce the scale of her mother’s dress to make herself appear tall and slender. She redefines the hem to have a tighter scallops, gathers the veil above the headress, and draws the train into the dress to create a peplum effect at this hips.”

The doll was issued in 1994 and is the second doll in the four doll series. I would purchase Betty in 2002 from the Doll Market.
