Rockabye Baby Christy & Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Joey

Lullaby BabiesLullaby Babies Side-12″ Porcelain “Rockabye Baby Christy & Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Joey” from the Lullaby Babies Collection (TM). Ashton Drake provided the following information on the collection:

” The incredible talent of Yolanda Bello has brought us a collection of porcelain infant dolls so likelike in sculpture detail, and with soft beanbag bodies so scrumptiously huggable, that the illusion of reality is wonderfully complete! With their own musical blankets and pillows they become even more endearing, making the Yolanda Lullaby Babies (TM) without peers in today’s ever-growing doll market.

Each sweet little infant doll in this collection has been inspired by a familar lullaby-soothing melodies that we remember from our own childhood, and have sung or hummed to our own children and grandchildren over the years. Now, these gentle melodies can be passed on in the form of fine heirloom collectibles.

Tucked inside the pillow of each Yolanda’s Lullaby Babies (TM) blanket is a tiny musical chip that actually plays the doll’s namesake tune. These musical chips are designed to bring years of enjoyment, and a Velco(R)-type fastener allows each chip to be removed if necessary.”

Ashton Drake then provides the following information on the individual dolls:

“Rock-A-Bye Christy”:

“You can hear the gentle, soothing melody still playing sofly in the corner of the nursey, “when the bough breaks…” Nestled under a soft warm blanket in her cozy cradle, baby Christy has fallen asleep. Shhh…don’t wake her…but you must take a peek at her precious face and her tiny hands and feet, Sweet dreams, little one.

“Rocky-A-Bye Baby” by Artist Yolanda Bello is the first issue in Yolanda’s Lullaby Babies, a new collection of porcelain infant dolls unlike any other. Each baby in this collection is tiny (“Rock-A-Bye Baby” is a petite 12 inches from head to toe), and comes with a soft blanket that plays a familiar lullaby.

Tucked inside the pillow portion of Christy’s blanket is a tiny music chip that plays “Rock-A-Bye-Baby”. Just squeeze the pillow gently, and its pleasant tune will lull her to sleep. The musical chip is designed to bring you years of enjoyment, and a Velcro-type fastener allows the chip to be removed if necessary.

The incredible talent of Yolanda Bello brings us an infant doll so relaxed, you can almost hear her gentle breathing as she sleeps. Lost in dreamland, Christy’s eyes are closed, her long, painted lashes curled over her upper lids. Her chubby baby cheeks are kissed with the warm blush of a real sleeping newborn, and if you look closelty, she even has a dimple in her chin. Christy’s dainty mouth is slightly puckered, and expertly hand-painted to look real. Her tiny hands are sculpted in natural positions-one hand in a fist, the other partially open. The toes of her pudgy baby feet are curled in comfort, And when you caress her, you’ll feel that all the porcelain is as smooth as a real baby’s skin!

Once you’ve held this little bundle of love in your arms, you won’t want to put her down. Christy has a cloth beanbag body, and her head, arms, and legs are floppy, so she feels just like a real baby!

Snug in her pastel pink sleeper and nightcap, Christy is a vision of sugar and spice. In keeping with the “Rock-A-Bye” theme, the outfit is hand-tailored of cotton-blend, cradle-print fabric. It’s trimmed in frilly white eyelet and yellow bows-just perfect for a baby girl-and has elasticized cuffs to hug her wrists and ankles. Wrapped in a soft fleece blanket to keep her warm, Christy is as comfortable as can be. Won’t you cuddle her close and rock her to sleep?”

“Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Joey”:

” Far beneath a velvet sky dotted with glistening stars, baby Joey is drifting off to sleep. As we peek into his crib, he stretches and yawns. This little fellow has yet to see the nighttime sky, but he knows the sweet bedtime tune that sings, “Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are.” Tonight, my little one, the stars are shining just for you.

“Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” by artist Yolanda Bello is an original issue in Yolanda’s Lullaby Babies (TM), a collection of porcelain infant dolls unlike any other. Each in this collection is tiny has a huggable beanbag body, and comes with a soft blanket or pillow that plays a familiar lullaby.

Joey is so-o-o-o-o sleepy. Ms. Bello has sculpted his tiny mouth in a precious yawn, and blushed his chubby cheeks and double chin with the warm glow of a real sleeping infant. Joey’s sculpted eyes are squinted closed, and his baby-fine painted lashes seem to curl over his upper lids. As if he were stretching, his little fingers and toes are comfortably curled. So lifelike and content, we almost expect to hear a sweet sigh as he snuggles in for a cozy night’s sleep.

Dressed for bedtime in his one-piece sleeper, Joey is a little “star” himself. His outfit is hand-tailored of cotton-blend star-print fabric, with an attached hood to keep his ears warm. It snaps up the front for easy dressing and undressing, and has white knit cuffs that hug his tiny wrists and ankles.

When Joey gets tired, just lay him down on his soft, satin-edged baby blanket and fluffy pillow. Or even better, let him fall asleep in your arms. With his cloth beanbag body and floppy head, arms, and legs, he’ll settle into place happily, as if he could sleep there for hours….”

I purchased Christy and Joey in 1991 directly from Ashton Drake Galleries.
