First Encounter Madra

First Encounter Madra-First Encounter Madra Side-First Encounter Madra Back-First Encounter Madra Close-up-15 1/2″ Vinyl 2000 “First Encounter” Madra. The storyline for Madra is the following:

” A gala film premiere of ‘First Encounter’ was trumpeted in the newspapers. ‘Come and see your favorite stars as they enter the Regency Theatre. Will Madra Lord, the glamorous veteran of the silver screen, be on Trent Osborn’s arm?’ Madra was angry to be labeled a veteran. However, she attended the festivities and when she made her first appearance on the screen, her beauty made men gasp. There she was, strolling sadly down a rain-soaked street having left the party and still dressed in an ivory gown and full-length fur. Head down, she bumped into a handsome stranger. Now it was the women’s turn to sigh, because they knew this encounter wouldn’t be the last. Madra in the back of the theatre smiled. Veteran, maybe, but definitely an enchantress of the movies.” Madre is designed to represent a 1940’s film star.”

Madra is dressed in the 2000″Dressed To Kill” outfit and the story that goes with the outfit is as follows:’

” At the Regency Theatre, in 1941, in Time Square, New York City, Madra and costar Trent Osborn were attending the premiere of their latest hit ‘Deep Devotion.’ Fans were agog to be rubbing elbows with the stars-even the young usherette who escorted them to their seats. The film started with Madra wearing the same gown she was wearing to the premiere. But Madra was angry-she kept whispering that something was up with the usherette. Then the projector stopped and the audience went to the lobby just in time to meet Erik Von Sternberg’s lastest discovery-Gene Marshall, the usherette in blue. Madra Lord stalked off to the ladies lounge-and the sound of a mirror being smashed echoed through the theatre…” The outfit was designed for Madra by artist Tim Kennedy.

I purchased the doll and outfit in 2000 from the Ashton Drake Doll Catalog.
