Gaoshan and Hezhen Wooden Ladies.

The  3″ Gaoshan Woman (in blue) came with the following information sheet. “Gaoshan has a population of 400,000 and live mainly in Taiwan with additional 3,000 in Fujiam and Zhejiang Provinces. The Gaoshan people speak their own distinctive language and  make their living farming. Typical foods include: rice, millet, and betel nuts. Traditionally their houses are built with boards.”

The 3″ Hezhen Woman (in red) came with the following information: “The Hezhen are one of the 56 minorities groups in China. Their population is 42,000 and they live in Tong Jiang City, Raohe & Fuyuan counties of Heilong Jiung Province . They speak their own language and make a living fishing & in agriculture. Their diet is made up of rice, bread, and fish and they live in brick homes.”

The dolls were a gift from Annie Szeto in 2014. She purchased the pair in China Town in Toronto, Canada.
