11 1/2″ Porcelain Kneeling “Jessica”. “Jessica” is one of Yolanda Bello’s Picture Perfect Babies .
Ashton Drake provided the following story line information on little “Jessica”: ” While Mommy is busy making up “Jessica’s” crib, this merry little girl wastes no time creating a diversion to catch her mother’s eye. The moment Mommy fluffs up the crib blanket, “Jessica” scurries underneath, then looks up and laughs with glee as it falls in soft folds over her head. “Peek-a-boo, I see you!” she seems to say, in that wordless way that babies have.
Mommy laughs, too, enjoying “Jessica’s” antics. Then she leans over, kisses her clever girl, and picks her up to cuddle, blanket and all.
“Jessica’s” lighthearted expressiveness reminds us of the innocent delight a baby takes in the day-to-day world around her. Yolanda Bello has created “Jessica” exactly as a snapshot would have caught her: eyes and smile full of merriment, chubby fingers extended in delight, and even the dimpled knees and inward-pointing toes of a real baby. Through Ms. Bello’s artistry, we sense that “Jessica” will turn heads and bring smiles even when she is no longer a baby.”
The doll was manufactured by Knowles China Company for Ashton Drake Galleries and I would purchase “Lisa” in 1990.
