9″ Composition & Cloth Carl & Kathie from Heidelberg. The dolls were offered for sale in the Kimport Doll Catalog from 1938 through 1940.
The write-up from the 1940’s Kimport Doll catalog gives the following story: ” You can imagine that blue eyed Carl is the Student Prince incognito. Anyway, this serious faced 9-inch doll wears the blue felt coat, red buttoned vest and beloved tiny skull cap of those happy days and ways about which so much of romance has been written and sung.
Kathie, his village sweetheart, clings to her peasant costume. A red felt dress, blue banded with apron and ribbons, are further elaborated by her wide organdie neck frill and tall festive bonnet,
Carl and Kathie are of German manufacture, composition heads, with modeled features and hair, cloth bodies, patent shoes. Factory made in Germany.
