Lisa

Yolanda Bello's Lisa11 1/2″ Porcelain Lisa from the Picture Perfect Babies Collection. The doll came with the following information brochure:

” Baby “Lisa” is such a well-behaved little one that her mother takes her practically everywhere. Today, dressed in her sunsuit and matching hat, “Lisa” is enjoying a summertime outing with friends and family…that is, until the gentle summer breezes makes “Lisa’s eyelids grow heavy, and she drifts off to sleep. Her mother lifts “Lisa” off her lap, and lays her gently down on her nap pillow.

After a time, “Lisa” stirs from her nap, opens her sleepy eyes, flexes her chubby legs, and gives every indication that she’s ready to nenjoy the rest of this lovely afternoon-another important day in her very first summer.

“There is no time when a child is more vulnerable…or loveable…than when she is just awakening,” says the doll artist Yolanda Bello of her work.

” The trust and contentment that you sense in “Lisa” as she stirs from her nap were a great challenge for me to create as an artist.”

A remarkable sensitivity to the “inner child” is what makes Yolanda Bello one of the most recognized and respected doll artists of modern times, She has sculpted “Lisa” to capture every nuance of a real a real infant’s gestures and pose. As “Lisa” snuggles happily among the soft folds of her nap pillow, she looks so lifelike that we may be tempted to cuddle her in our arms…”

I purchased “Lisa” in 1991 from the Ashton Drake Galleries.
