7″ Cloth Maria Helena Couple. Woman is marked Maria Helena and I purchased her in 2002 at the First Houston Doll Show.
The man, who was purchased in 1999 at the Doll Haven in Youngstown, Arizona has a tag which reads: Estre Madura. Estre Madura is a historical province located on the Portuguese Atlantic coast in the center of the country and includes the capital, Lisbon. The doll is dressed as a fisherman, who is wearing the favored tartan style cloth of the region. ( Note: the man is barefoot and it appears that both men and women go barefoot on numerous occasions.)
