7″ Plastic Girl from Madeira. Madeira is the Portuguese word for wood and is the name of a group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The islands are an autonomous region of Portugal and a popular tourist destination located southwest of Portugal.
According to the authors’ of “Folk Costumes of the World”, the costumes are simple, but very colorful and showcase hand stitched embroidered designs.
I purchased the doll in 1995 at the First Houston Doll Show.
