12″ Vinyl Susan Stormalong Birthday Surprise. The doll came with the following Story:
“Susan Stormalong” was created in 1952 by doll artist Dewees Cochran after she was inspired by reading a book of American folklore. A sea captain from Cape Cod named Bullhead Stormalong caught her fancy and Dewees decided to create what she conjectured the great-great niece of such a colorful character might be like. In this vein, she designed a dreamy face speckled with freckles of a sunny day and eyes to reflect the blue of the sea. She nicknamed this little girl “Stormy” after her great uncle.
Effanbee has the honor to re-create this lovely doll, and we have given her a wonderful birthday surprise: a real mohair bear created by bear artist, Peggy Fleming. Effanbee has joined together for the first time, a classic collectible bear line. “
