Wedding In A Moonlit Garden

19″ Porcelain “Wedding in a Moonlit Garden” by Cindy McClure for Ashton Drake Galleries. The doll is from the Now is the Hour of Love Collection and came with the following information from Ashton Drake:

“A hush of expectation falls over the gathered guest, seated in the garden on a summer evening. When the processional begins, all heads turn to catch a glimpse of the bride. As she comes into view, there is a gasp from the crowd: she is dazzling! The soft moonlight caresses her glittering image as she moves slowly down the aisle…and a whispered murmur of appreciation follows. Truly, this is a bride whose memory will linger long past her wedding day…and that’s exactly what she intends!

Come be a part of this “Wedding in a Moonlit Garden,” where doll artist Cindy McClure brings us a bride of such incredible glamour and femininity, she’s detined to turn heads wherever she appears. And she’s just the first in an extraordinary bridal collection called Now is the Hour of Love. It introduces you to four beautiful brides, each one wed in a lovely summer garden at a different hour of the day. The drama and details of these brides are so gorgeous, so unexpected, that they belong among your most beautiful and personal treasures.

Noted doll artist Cindy McClure has brought a whole new level of sculpting to this collection, beginning with this first bride. Her lovely head, shoulders, dramatic decolletage and graceful arms are crafted in entirely in bisque porcelain to achieve her unique and memorable pose. Ms. McClure’s signature look-dreamy eyes with long lashes and full sensous mouth-highlight this bride’s notable beauty.

The unforgettable wedding gown that Ms. McClure has designed for her bride is of richly textured, oyster-white crepe-backed satin, with sleek princess tailoring that hugs every curve, and a removable train. The decorative sash is of heavy satin in a delicate blush-pink shade.

Cascading down the front of the gown is a profusion of glittering floral appliques enhanced with tiny iridescent seed beads, sequins, faux pearls and the most delicate golden embroidery. More of the same exotic beadwork enhances the bride’s bodice, the rear waistline of her gown and her headpiece. Incredibly, there are more than 4,500 hand-sewn beads and sequins in her entire ensemble…”

I purchased the doll directly from Ashton Drake Galleries in 2002.
